Mayor Bronconnier has a very clear vision for the development of Calgary's economy: we are fortunate to be living here in a time of unprecedented prosperity, a time when national and even international attention is turning to Calgary as an economic powerhouse. And when our population - and our economic influence - is growing at a rate never before seen in this country.

So this is the time to put into place the infrastructure, facilities, programs, and services to support and sustain the quality of life that is so much a part of Calgary's appeal.

Mayor Bronconnier believes the advantages and opportunities that have come with our thriving economy should be managed so as to benefit all Calgarians now, and those who will be living here many years from now.

This means finding the right balance that accommodates a rapidly growing population, with the social, cultural and lifestyle needs of a sophisticated urban centre. It must also respect and protect the natural environment we've been blessed with, and the 'built' environment Calgarians have put in place.

All these needs and priorities must be balanced by the need to provide the policies and processes that assist, support and sustain Calgary's entrepreneurial, innovative business community.

Mayor Bronconnier works closely with arms-length quasi-public sector organizations, such as Calgary Economic Development and Tourism Calgary, as well as with literally dozens of private sector groups.

He personally leads efforts to attract new businesses and business people to Calgary. In fact, during his seven years in office, Mayor Bronconnier has travelled literally around the world to meet with potential investors; with industry leaders who may be considering a move to Calgary, and with major international airlines, transportation and distribution, technology and financial companies whose presence here would be a significant benefit to the business community.
