ENMAX LEGACY PARKS

Home Mayor's Initiatives Environment ENMAX Legacy Parks

Introduced by Mayor Bronconnier in 2003, the ENMAX Legacy Parks program is already one of the largest and most imaginative of its kind in all of Canada.

The program uses dividend funds from ENMAX, The City's wholly-owned utility, to acquire, preserve, develop or re-develop parkland within the city, or in future development corridors beyond our present boundaries.

Key watershed areas and riverbanks are being protected; parks within established communities are being up-graded; and three new large regional parks - Bearspaw, Clearwater, and Shepard Wetlands - are currently being created near Calgary's outermost suburbs.
