Mayor Bronconnier has changed the way business is done at Calgary’s City Hall, and has taken significant steps to ensure Calgarians get the open, effective and accessible government they deserve.

• At his direction, Calgary became the first major city in Canada to implement multi-year budgeting. Council sets the tax rate guidelines, and administration plans their operations so as to deliver City services while staying within those guidelines.
  Citizens know what their tax rates will be for as much as three years in advance, and The City knows how much revenue to expect over that same time period.
• Introduced budget open houses at City Hall. Calgarians can see the budget, and talk to senior management responsible for delivering services.
• Directed that the City Auditor report to Council, not to senior city administration.
