To Mayor Bronconnier, the safety of Calgarians is at the very top of the priority list. Although Calgary is rapidly becoming a big city, it’s still one of the safest in Canada. In fact, it’s one of the safest big cities in the world. Mayor Bronconnier is determined to keep it that way. He’s introduced innovative programs to keep Calgary safe, clean and inviting. He’s encouraged Council to increase spending on protective services personnel and resources, and to approve the additional investment needed to step up the level of visible security on city streets, Ctrains, parks and pathways. And he’s leading other ‘big city’ mayors in an effort to persuade the federal and provincial governments to enact legislation to stop the catch-and-release treatment of repeat offenders. MilestonesThat's why he's championed several major initiatives intended to keep Calgary's streets and neighbourhoods safe, clean and welcoming. And that's why the Mayor and Council have made support for the city's security services – Police, Fire, EMS and Bylaw Services - a top priority. |
